Crocus Sativus or Saffron is a prized spice known for its color, flavor and recently its extensive medicinal properties. The part of the plant that is used is the dried stigma or threads of the flower. Saffron belongs to Iridaceae (familyCrocus (genus) and known botanically as Crocus Sativus.
