4. Meat Feedlot-Raised
Supermarket meat is usually fed with grains like corn and soy (both very high percent GMO produced crops). They are fed a diet that is very high in Omega 6 and very low Omega 3, which is very inflammatory. These animals are not able to move much so they seem to be very rich in fat. They are also injected with lots of medications and hormones for disease prevention and growth. The bottom line is you are eating all the things they have been fed….
These meats are found in supermarkets and restaurants. What we need to look for is grass-fed, free range type meats in our supermarkets, online and in health food markets.
5. Processed Meat
Processed meat has been associated with cancer of the colon, rectum, esophagus and lung according to the 2007 World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research.
Process meats include cured, smoked, salted or chemically preserved meat like ham sausages and salami.
Meat is a powerful protein so we don’t want to avoid it totally we just want to make sure we use quality meat. Grass-fed, free range and if possible organic meat is best for you and your family to keep down inflammation.
